PROSEWEAVER BOOK COMMUNITY

Book Review Guidelines

Honest reviews. Respectful conversations. Meaningful discoveries. Help us build a welcoming community where readers share authentic opinions and authors receive fair, thoughtful feedback.

OUR COMMUNITY STANDARDS

Every Reader Has a Voice

At ProseWeaver, we celebrate independent authors and the readers who support them. Whether you loved a book or felt it could have been stronger, your honest experience matters. These guidelines help ensure that every review is useful, respectful and trustworthy.

01

Be Honest and Authentic

Share your genuine experience of reading the book. You do not need to write a positive review. Thoughtful criticism is welcome, provided it reflects your real opinion. Do not submit fabricated, misleading or AI-generated reviews presented as personal reading experiences.

02

Respect Authors and Readers

Focus your comments on the book rather than attacking its author or other readers. Disagreement is welcome, but harassment, insults, discriminatory language and personal attacks are not permitted.

03

Avoid Unmarked Spoilers

Please avoid revealing major plot twists, endings or important surprises without a clear spoiler warning. Help other readers discover stories without losing the excitement of experiencing them firsthand.

04

Explain Your Rating

When leaving a star rating, include a brief explanation. Consider the plot, characters, pacing, writing style and overall reading experience. Specific feedback is more useful than simply saying a book was excellent or disappointing.

05

Disclose Relevant Connections

If you received a free review copy, know the author personally, or have another relevant connection to the book, disclose it clearly. Reviews must not be exchanged for guaranteed positive ratings, payments or other rewards tied to the review's sentiment.

06

Keep Reviews Relevant

Reviews should focus on the book and your experience reading it. Avoid unrelated advertising, promotional links, spam, duplicate submissions or attempts to redirect readers to unrelated services.

07

Respect Copyright and Privacy

Write reviews in your own words. Do not reproduce substantial portions of a book without permission or share private information about authors, readers or other individuals.

08

Be Constructive

You can dislike a book and still leave a valuable review. Explain what worked for you, what did not, and which readers might enjoy it. Constructive feedback helps readers make informed decisions and gives authors useful perspectives.

What Makes a Helpful Review?

A great review does not have to be lengthy. A few thoughtful sentences can help another reader decide whether a book is right for them.

Example of a Constructive Review

"The novel introduced an imaginative world and a compelling central character. I particularly enjoyed the atmosphere and the author's descriptive writing. The middle chapters felt slower than I expected, but the ending brought the story together effectively. I would recommend it to readers who enjoy thoughtful, character-driven fantasy."

Review Moderation and Fairness

ProseWeaver aims to maintain a fair and welcoming environment for both readers and authors. Submitted reviews may be checked against these community guidelines.

We may reject, remove or restrict content that:

  • Contains harassment, abusive language or personal attacks.
  • Includes spam, promotional manipulation or fabricated ratings.
  • Infringes copyright, privacy or other applicable rights.
  • Misrepresents the reviewer's relationship with the author or book.
  • Otherwise breaches our community guidelines or applicable platform policies.

Important: A negative rating or critical opinion is not, by itself, grounds for removal. Our goal is to protect authentic reader feedback while maintaining respectful standards.
